Skyn Iceland - a top notch new skincare range I just had to tell you about…
www.skyniceland.com

I’m always on the look out for new skincare lines. So many are BS - marketing ploys. Only very few actually garner any effect. If you’re anything like me and almost every other woman I know, the pursuit of caring for your skin is a lifelong mission.

This new collection is specifically tailored for stressed skin and most of us city living gals know a thing or two about that! Living in big cities with exposure to the elements, heating and air conditioner can play havoc with your skin. Iceland is renowned for its holistic spa and hot spring therapies but unfortunately we don’t always have the time or money to jump on a plane to revive ourselves. Now, you can bring a bit of Iceland to you at a fraction of the cost, I figure!

I particularly love the anti-oxidant calming serum.  When I put it on I can actually feel the active ingredients tingling on my skin and getting to work. Arctic Mist is refreshing and the night cream nice and rich to banish yucky dryness.  Highly recommend this one.  Order online or see their list of stockists: www.skyniceland.com

NB: Their travel pack is the perfect size for an up to 2 week trip in a transparent cool blue plastic cary case.  Cooooolllll.

There’s nothing I adore more than a yummy meal with family or friends — Ann and Peter Haigh, who host a weekly one hour online radio program on food and travel, share my passion for culinary pursuits.

Check out their cool site with content that really inspires: http://www.onthemenuradio.com/

Tune in to this husband and wife team every week from 9am EST  Sundays while you fill in the Newspaper crosswords and take note of their tips and recipes to impress your friends at your next dinner party. The pair also interview chefs, hoteliers and wine makers. Ann, the “dining diva” is a long-time food writer, broadcaster and restaurant critic so you can trust she won’t steer you in the wrong direction.

Maybe one of your New Years resolutions is to learn to cook or improve your skills? Here’s a gem to know about to guide you!

I just had to tell you about it …

Here I find myself in what must be one of the most gorgeously stunning natural landscapes anywhere in the world. Namibia. Wow.  We were in the soussvlei region yesterday, where the largest dunes of the world tower and shimmer in gold. Wow. Wow. Wow.  Climbing the dunes by the way? Quite the workout. Taking photos at the top in the ‘witching hour” (first thing post sunrise) and at sunset - magic.

So far we’ve seen:  jackals, baboons, springboks by the herd, gemsbok, aardwolf. So neat to be here-much more to follow when I publish the files these next couple of weeks back at the old desk! Great camps, romantic star studded nights, elegance of the simple neutral tones, a quiet that is like nowhere else.

More later….

Happy Holidays!

Greetings from sunny, lovely Plettenberg and Merry Christmas!  I’m on the 3 week trip I wrote about last week while on Safari, feeling so grateful I can take these jaunts and discover finds to report back to you! We’re staying in this part of the trip at The Plettenberg (file will be released in early January) on a clifftop on the famous Garden Route. Looking out past the infinity pool onto a wide long stretch of rugged beach, I’m thinking… ahhh. The sun is strong, the air is crisp, the mood here is up (e.g. unlike London where I live, people aren’t talking about how terrible the markets are!) Yesterday we enjoyed a truly fab Christmas Eve celebration at The Plettenberg—what an experience, with local music, feast-like food, gorgeous wine (which we drank too much of).

Merry Christmas…enjoy your family and friends…and…until Namibia next week…

Entree: News

http://www.entreenews.com/

Printed newsletters might seem a little outdated to some, but I think this source is perfect for those who, like me, love discovering new and exciting places off the beaten track and may enjoy sitting back with it on a sofa or plane. The newsletters give solid, trustworthy insights into hotels and restaurants + general  travel info around the world- I love the smug feeling of having access to information few others are privy to!

This is one of the things I love about Spire. We provide you with real, honest info and these newsletters seem to do the same. Like Suzanne’s Files, where nothing is featured on the site that I am not convinced is a great pick, Entree News is like-minded.

Another bonus when you subscribe to the newsletters is that you get the phone number of the Entree office so you can access up to the minute advice. So right up until you board the plane, you can call these guys for the latest info on resorts and dining.  Check it out….buy it as a gift for the traveler in your life.
